What causes flooding?

Floods happen for different reasons. Sometimes the sea rises and the tide crashes over the walls. This often happens in stormy weather.

Sometimes a river cannot cope with the amount of water draining into it from the surrounding land. The river busts its banks and floods the surrounding area.

Sometimes there is too much rain for the land to absorb and the drains to handle.
