This is an excellent idea! There is definitely a need to build a train station at Caerleon and make improvements to stations between Newport and Abergavenny.

The new train station will only be 500m from the campus and it will save me travelling hours by bus every day from Pontypool.

I'm against the proposal as the new train station will be too close to the Roman remains and it will affect my work. We are continuing to find old Roman ruins in and around the town.

There has been a "significant rise" in rail use between Newport and Abergavenny recently and a new railway station in Caerleon would certainly boost profits. It also support green transport/ sustainable transport.

According to National Museums Wales, around 70,000 people currently visit the National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon each year. This number could be doubled if a new railway station opened in the town.

The new railway station is too close to the river Usk. It will create air and noise pollution on the footpaths by the river. I walk these footpaths three times a week with my dog. Recently archaeologists discovered a Roman port on the banks of the river Usk at the town’s edge.
