yn and mewn

We use the definite article in front of some place names, e.g.

• Yr Alban
• Y Swistir
• Yr Aifft
• Y Barri
• Y Fenni
• Yr Wyddgrug

Also, mewn usually means 'in a'. Mewn is used in front of any small letter except those noted above, e.g. mewn munud, mewn tŷ gwag
